No rules of or no rules on?

I wonder if someone can help me with this sentence.

Should it be:

There were no rules on how I went about meeting people

or

There were no rules of how I went about meeting people

Or are both correct?

Thanks for your time.

of doesn't sound right. on is OK. I prefer about, although I'd try not to repeat the word 'about' in that sentence..
