No more X than Y

Does "While the uncanny itself is no more a property of space than it is a property of objects" mean:

1. the uncanny is more a property of objects than a property of space
or
2. the uncanny is a property of neither objects nor space?

Context:
Transferring Freud’s projection of the uncanny anxiety onto the maternal body to an anxiety about the uncertainty of the modern world, Vidler describes how the private uncanny becomes public in the face of the unknowable frightening expansion of urban spaces of modern cities, giving rise to phobias associated with spatial fear. While the uncanny itself is no more a property of space than it is a property of objects, the expansion of urban space created external phantasmagoria such as buildings that pressed down on the subject and vast derelict areas that frightened him/her (Art and Psychoanalysis by Maria Walsh).

The rest means that the uncanny is equally a property of space and a property of objects. For most sentences with this pattern, the reader is supposed to know that the second part is not true and infer from it that first part is likewise not true.
