No matter what

Are these correct:

1-John did do a lot of bad things. But no matter what he did, unlike you, he did not steal my money.
2-John did do a lot of bad things. But no matter what he did, he did not steal my money.

Even though he did a lot of bad things, he did not go far enough as to steal my money.
