no matter vs doesn't matter

Hi everyone!

I have one question that I couldn't understand the difference. Can someone help me, please?

You must always have a good breakfast every morning____late you are.
a) no matter b) however c) although d) whatever e) even if
Answer is however

However can be used as doesn't matter and fits in this sentence, but no matter fits for me either, so what's the difference between no matter and doesn't matter exactly. Why we can't use no matter as an answer in this sentence?

I don't think so.
No matter what happens, I will always be there for you. This sentence doesn't need how.
