No main verb in this sentence? why?

Hi, everyone.
I really face a big big problem that I have yet to comprehend.

"Native to South America, peanuts, introduced to Africa by Portuguese explorers early in the sixteenth century and having been quickly adopted into Africa's agriculture, probably because they were so similar to the Bambarra groundnut, a popular indigenous plant."

My teacher gave me a comment:
This sentence has no main verb because introduced and having been.....adopted function as adjectives.

But I really can't understand why the word: introduce(+ed) and adopt(+ed) are not function as a normal verb here but adjectives ?

Can anyone give me a detailed explanation and let me won't make the same mistake next time?

Thanks!
