I've got a question concerning the Present Simple. Have I used it correctly or should I use Past Simple?

- No, I'm just drinking coffee/ No, I was just drinking coffee. What's up?

You have used the present progressive. Both it and the past progressive are possible here. The simple forms (I drink/drank) are not possible.
