A: If you found a wallet on the street, would you keep it?

B: No, I would give it to the police.

In B's dialogue, "No" is a suitable answer or "Yes, I would give it to the police" or is there an omission of something behind "No" like "No, (I would not) I would give it to the police."? I have learned that negatives should follow "no". So I am really confused now. So what do you native English speakers think? Thank you so much as usual and have a good day.

Thank you so much and the sentence is fine to use. Then how about this,

A : You do not have a driver's license.

B : No, I got it two months ago.

I think no should be yes here. Is there a different usage between the first example and this one?

Here, no means That is not true, That is not the case, or You are mistaken. I’d say Yes, I do. I got mine two months ago.
