Hello everyone,
A. Could you please tell me if I have pointed out the difference between the two sentences below correctly?
1. He went to the office that was not far from the place where the bus had stopped.
2. He went to the office that was no far from the place where the bus had stopped.
My understanding of these sentences is as follows:
#1 The office was not far from the place where... (It implies that the office was near.)
#2 The office was no far from the place where...(It implies that the office was neither far nor near.)
P.S. I already know that "not far from" is much more common than "no far from". I consulted "the Google Ngram Viewer", and found both. According to it, the latter isn't impossible, but I'm not sure if native speakers ever use it.
B. Is it okay if I use "that" in place of "where" in my original sentences as follows?
"...the place that the bus had stopped." I don't think it's okay??.
Or should it be as follows?
"...the place that the bus had stopped at."
1. He went to the office that was not far from the place where the bus had stopped. OK 2.
