1. "flight attendant" and "air hostess" are the same meaning, right? The former is favoured today. The latter is seen as less dignified, and somewhat sexist in its assumption that such jobs are only done by women.
1. Flight attendent - you get plenty of men doing the job now as well as women and that is the job title. I don't think air hostess has been used for well over a decade.
2. I think perhaps auto-racing is American English. In British English we might say car-racing but usually specify the type of racing - Formula 1 racing, stock car racing, rally driving.
