I would appreciate if someone corrects this response to the question, "Talk about the No Child Left Behind. Do you agree/disagree with the program? Why/why not and should creativity and imagination return to schools?"
No Child Left Behind is considered failure of the national education although it was written with good intentions. There are many good sides of this law. It help ensures all the children received properly enough attention so that they can succeed when going to college. WIth the goal to standardize the tests, some students are identified as behind and the aim is to narrow the gap between learners. This also encourages teachers to concentrate on their performance and know what students need to prepare for the standard tests. Disadvantaged children can receive extra help. This means their family don’t need to pay extra money when they are struggling with finance. this can significantly change their children’ s life and help them out of the poverty cycle by providing equal education. However, the law received a lot of criticisms because teachers and schools did not keep up with the regulations. The loop in the law causes the teachers and schools to falsify the test in order to meet the standard of the state. the law created an issue that reduces the flexibility of the school materials, limit the student’s imagination and shift the goal of the teachers to make their students pass the tests. I believe that creativity and imagination should be incorporated in schools. Having elective classes that incorporate writing and poetry enable student to use their imagination and show their creativity, It also helps students to discover abilities and passions they might not have known they had. In addition to the bad impact of No Child left behind on education, I also want to point out the fact that some schools don’t use funds equally and legally. THe first video showed people in offices schools don’t make sure the money were allocated right. Investigating and fixing the problem can help improve the quality of the national and local education.
