No articles (things in general)

Hi...I have some problems while I was reading a book.

I know when we are talking things in gereral ,such as friend, we will put a s to mean "friends that we have"
e.g) I have no friends

But, I want to ask... see below:
I have no apple .
No muffin today (today I won't eat muffin.)
No train will be there.

Should we put a 's' before these noun?
I really don't understand....

[ Sorry for my poor english...hope you can understand what I mean. Thanks in advance]

As far as I understand, you are interested in the number of nouns following no. Both singular and plural are correct but no doubt there are many cases in which one or the other is more idiomatic. I have no book / books.

If you are using no then you don't need an article. Your sentences aren't natural, natives wouldn't really say those things. They would say; I don't have an apple/any apples, I won't eat any muffins today and there won't be a train/any trains there.

No + NOUNS as you are using them are really just used on signs.

No ball games.

No dogs allowed etc

Googling for "have no apples" gives about 192,000 hits. I took a look at some of them, and, natural or not, they were written by native speakers.
