No articles needed?

Hi. Would you say all these don't need articles in the places indicated?

1. I think we can say "He went home by bike." Can we say "He went home by his uncle's creeking bike"?" Is there something we have to remember when using this pattern? (I am not sure I asked correctly to reflect what I wanted to say, though)
