No article for these words?

Hi. Sometimes in old English literature I think I see sentences where the articles are missing in front of the words like "sun," "moon," "sky" and "sea." Are they correct? Thank you in advance for your help.

eg,

1. Sun and moon became dark.

2. Sky and sea became dark.
