No article before financial / accounting terms?

Why is there no definite article before accounting terms in companies' statements?
For instance, "Net profit decreased by 3% year-on-year... etc." instead of "THE net profit decreased... etc."
I would appreciate your help in giving me a hint where I could read more about this case. Thanks in advance.

'Net profit' is being presented as a concept. In addition, such statements often used clipped English, much as tables do.
