'no' and 'not' dilemma

Recently I have seen the sentence:

'It is no easy task'.

My concern though is to find out whether the following one is correct as well, i.e.

'It is not easy task'.

If so, are they both of the same meaning or there is a subtle difference between them?

Top answer

"No" acts as an adjective. In "It is not an easy task", "not" acts as an adverb.

Edit:
Corrected 'no' to 'not' at the request of the poster.
Deleted the side talk about it.
