Grammar

next, last: without ON

Something I haven't noticed before:

is it true that when the name of a day of the week is preceeded by

next or last you DON'T use the preposition ON?

So, for ex.:

I'm leaving on Thursday

but

I'm leaving next Thursday.

Is it correct?

Thank you
