Newtro

Hi teachers~

I am wondering if 'newtro' is English word. I guess not, but I am not sure.

The word is the new black here in South Korea, and it seems to mean the same as 'retro.'

Thank you in advance~

"Newtro" is not in the Urban Dictionary, and if even they don't want a piece of that …. I am not aware of it. It seems to me that it would sound like it's spelled "neutro" and has something to do with "neutral".

  • Anyway, if it means "retro" why not just say "retro"?

Not even the Urban Dictionary can find it, so I'd say it's not used much in English-speaking countries. All references to "newtro" that I have seen describe it as a current trend in South Korea.
