Is it true that some newspapers are right wing and others are left wing?

Is using 'wing' correct? Do I say are from a different party? Do you say some newspapers are republican and others are democratic? How would you phrase this yourself?

You probably realize that the terms Republican and Democrat relate only to the political scene in the USA.

Let me add that the terms right wing/left wing also depend a lot on the speaker's perspective.. eg Many Canadians consider both US parties to be right wing.
