NEWSPAPER AND OTHER MEDIA

Some people think that newspapers are the best way to learn the news. However, others believe that they can learn news better through other media. Discuss both views and give your opinion?

The ubiquity of different kinds of media affects the way audiences get updated. Some people rely on printed journals as the most optimal method to consume news, whereas making use of broadcast media and the internet is considered more viable alterations. In my opinion, while the newspaper is synonymous with its credibility and tactful writing styles, other media will hold the most vital position in terms of providing information, since they are up to date and also more comprehensive.

On the one hand, before broadcasting, newspapers’ content is always heavily censored. In other words, compared to television and the web, printed media is viewed as a more trustworthy source of information, and it is the accurateness and authenticity of the newspaper that makes it stand out from the rivals. Therefore, readers can protect themselves from frauds and deceptions, which is rife on online platforms. For those reasons, printed media is essential when it comes to providing precise information.

On the other hand, broadcast media and the internet can take over the position of the printed newspaper in terms of learning the news. Contrary to the prolonging procedures of typing, editing, and publishing, to keep abreast of the latest developments of the world in no time, audiences far better off opting for the automatic versions of the traditional sites, such as online BBC NEWS, or other recent sources like weblogs. Furthermore, diversity is one of the key advantages of other media over conventional ones. Instead of one-way information, which is popular among newspapers, online columns and editorials provide comprehensive analysis from multiple perspectives, known as Op-Ed. By gradually consuming the news via the internet, people can sharpen their critical thinking, as well as the freedom of speech, is ensured. Put it simply, broadcast media and the social one held responsible for the most vital position to keep spectators up-to-date.

In conclusion, as information is accelerating at an alarming speed, a printed newspaper is often considered as a safer and more credible method to be aware of what is taking place globally. However, I am convinced that, thanks to their speed and diversity, television and the internet will outstrip printed media as the most demanding sources of information.
