Newsagents or Newsagents'

Hi,

If I were saying 'I went to the newsagents to but a magazine.' Would that be correct? Or would it have to be Newsagents'.

Regards
Ryan

Thanks.
When I google 'I went to the butchers' it doesn't seem to come up with the alternative 'Butchers'.

Also, if I were implying shop, would it not be Newsagent's (shop) as opposed to Newsagents' (shop)?

Ah, sorry. I didn’t notice the placement of the apostrophe. It should be newsagent’s.

Cheers.
it'll just be the same for things like Butcher's, Chemist's etc, etc. Right?

Hi, I have just thought of something else.
If, in a conversation, I were saying the following:
Person, 'She hated working in that little office.'
Other person, 'It was an accountants, wasn't it?'
Should accountants be accountant's?

Can you explain exactly what the other person wants to know?

'It was an accountants, (firm/office) wasn't it?'
Reply. 'Yeah it was'.
From what you have explained previously I believe it should be accountant's.

Accounting office/firm is the right way to say it.
