The new Chevrolet Epica will be at the disposal of Russian car dealers in November

The American corporation GM is updating its range of cars this year. This trend has now reached Russia where the Chevrolet Evanda is to be replaced by a new model Chevrolet Epica. Russian car delears will start sales of the car in mid November. It will be offered in two versions. It is aimed to attract new buyers of business-class Chevrolets.

The new car comes in two versions: the budget one called LS and the one that is more expensive which is called LT. The LS version with a manual gearbox is equipped with a 2 litre engine whose horsepower measures 142. It takes this car 9.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h. The maximum speed is 207.4 km/h. The price of the LS version will start from $22.990 in Russia.

As far as the LT version is concerned, it comes in three versions. The first version is equipped with a 2 litre engine and a manual gearbox which results in the same speed and power figures as the LS. But it costs more because of more comfort and extra options included in the price (starts from $26.990). The two other versions with 2 and 2.5 litre engines come with automatic transmission. These will need at least $28.540 or $30.040 respectively.

The sales and marketing manager for Chevrolet in Russia told RBC Daily that the reasons for starting sales of the car in Russia are banal. The Evanda has been on sale for a number of years in Russia, making it necessary for the company to offer a new more modern and comfortable car. It is natural that the company is banking on the boost of interest towards Chevrolet business-class saloons on account of the fact that only 400 cars (assembled largely at the "Avtotor" factory in Kaliningrad) have been sold in 9 months. The target audience will stay the same. Its chief representatives will be men aged over 35.

It is highly likely that the new car will get the interest of middle managers who often use a car for family trips. "The Epica is reasonably large and comfortable" - Oleg Datskiv, director of "AutoDealer.ru" says - The car looks fairly interesting to those who are willing to purchase a spacious car for the whole family. As for the drawbacks to the car, Mr. Datskiv takes an opinion that it is a 2 litre engine which comes with a majority of the versions and might not be sufficient for a car the size of the Epica. He recommends buying the 2.5 litre version. Besides, he reckons that buyers might have problems with the order of spare parts and maintenance: "Chevrolet cars are traditionally in good demand in Russia. However, many clients have had to wait for the necessary spare parts to be delivered for some time in the event of a break-down".

If you are writing a news piece think about who you are writing it for and why. Is this to promote the new car? Is it to provide Oleg Datskiv with a good opportunity to comment on it?

Is it to provide a basic facts and figures guide? Is it aimed at people who might want to buy the car? Or at the dealers? It's not clear who you are writing for here.
