There is a difference between "no surprise" and "a little surprise."

Oops!it was:
"....as only a small surprise."

Would you tell me the difference John?

Well, no surprise means that there was zero surprise. A small surprise would mean that the surprise was very minor, insignificant, hardly worth mentioning.
No means "none" and small means "slight."
