New Script
I read Longfellow's poem Evangeline: A Tale of Acadie recently. It was filmed
back in '29 with Delores del Rio, a Mexican playing a French girl. I am
researching doing my own version. The story surrounds what was essentially
the ethnic cleansing of Acadia (later dubbed Nova Scotia) in 1755. The Brits in control felt the area slipping away from them, so they scattered the
Acadians at their whim. Why am I so interested in this? My mother was descended from the Acadians who relocated to Louisiana, where I was born. I am myself a half-caste Cajun. (Why half? My dad was from Arkansas!)
