new here, need help with word formation

hello there,

i am new to this site and i am dying to get answers about where(and IF) i could find rules about word formation in English. I am interested in learning how to transform a noun into an adjective and the contrary. Would someone please tell me if i am searching in vain or are there really some rules about this...

thx

Hi Ellie-- welcome to English Forums. There are no rules, just some common options, like '-ate' verbs change to '-ation' nouns. Most grammar books list the most widespread suffixes.
