Is it correct to say:

"What did you learn of new in your last class?"

And how about:

What new thing did you learn in your last class?"

Top answer

'of new' doesn't work at all. 'new thing' is OK. However, learning is coming to know something that you didn't know before, so learning is always learning something new.

'of new' doesn't work at all.

'new thing' is OK.

However, learning is coming to know something that you didn't know before, so learning is always learning something new. For this reason, I mostly hear

What did you learn in class today?
What did you learn in your last class?

without any mention of 'new'.
