Never vs yet

Hello,

I've only got one question. In an exam there was a gap fill exercise with the following sentence:

This year's harvest has been one of the biggest harvests __14__, thanks to last year's mild winter and a wet summer.

The 'officially' correct answer was EVER. Some of us wondered if YET could be used instead.

I would really appreciate if you could answer my question and possibly explain why YET can/cannot be used here.

Thank you very much,

Andreja

Both 'ever' and 'yet' are OK there.

Why? Hmm. I suppose it's because they have the same meaning in that context, i.e., after a superlative adjective.
