Never do

Don't want to close my eyes
I don't want to fall asleep
Cause I'd miss you baby
And I don't want to miss a thing
Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you baby
And I don't want to miss a thing

It's fragment from a song. What does 'will never do' mean??
I suspect it means something like 'will never succeed\come true'.

Thanks

It means that it will not satisfy him, it does not reach his expectations. When something 'will not do' it is unacceptable. Teacher to class: 'Your behaviour simply will not do' - you are a horrible bunch now please behave yourselves!
