Never and knew, know

Hello

Losing a child is something a parent never gets OR get over
Which one is correct, no s or with s.
From what is know, after word "never", we must use root word.
Is it true?

What is the difference between
1. I wish i KNEW the answer and I wish I KNOW the answer
2. I KNEW it! and I KNOW it!
When to use knew and know apart from based on past and present tense?
