Network processes

I am reading about computer networking. I came across the following on the YouTube video:

The application layer of OSI model provides network processes to the applications.

I am just interested to know the exact meaning of "processes" in "network processes".

We also use "chemical processes", "physiological processes etc.

Like "services" this word also has multiple and overlapping meaning.
