Grammar

Ne[t/following

What's the difference between 2 sentences (if there is):

She said (yesterday) that she would go there next year. And:

She said that she would go there the following year. (Of course, I mean current situation: It is 2018 and I make Reported speech meaning the next 2019)

Or may be the first sentence is wrong, because contains "next" instead of "following"?
