Nemesis

Hello.

The sentence:
"Suppose you are at the middle of a long, hard struggle with your nemesis...."
is from Winning Chess Play

What does nemesis mean here?I'm looking for a good persian equivalent.....
Here's what CALD® says:http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/nemesis?q=nemesis

my question is:is it translatable as "your same-level opponent"?

Does that mean what I said?

No - it means a bitter opponent or a fierce enemy that you have a long-running, acrimonious rivalry with.

'Your same-level opponent' is a wishy-washy representation of that.
