Neither...nor

Which one is correct?
1) Neither I was thinking nor I was sleeping.
2) Neither was I thinking nor was I sleeping.

the answer you gave is definitely correct.No doubt about it.
But i was asking about the two sentences I wrote. And I could not think of any other sentence in which I could ask the thing I wanted to ask. Actually i wanted to ask if we use neither at the beginning of the sentence then do we need to use helping verb ( is ,are, am etc.) just after neither or we can use it after the subject.

Ok, I'm not too sure when you would want to express it in this way in 'real life' but in both examples the second option is correct.
