neglect in

Joseph Andressohn, 36, and Lamoy Andressohn, 30, are charged with aggravated manslaughter and neglect in the death of their daughter

I came across this on a newspaper,I have tried to look up in the dictonary the word 'neglect' ,please explain to me why it can take preposition''in''? as far as I know,neglect is a transitive verb and it can only take direct object
