negative of a sentence

Dear all,
I have a car.
I don't have a car.
I don't have any car.

Do you have a car?
Do you have any car? I read in a grammar book, for the negative and question use"any" is it right? I always use "a"

I don't have any car would be a response in a dialogue if car (types) had been mentioned. "Do you have a Ford or a VW?" "I don't have any car."
Do you have any car would also be used after cars had been mentioned. "I don't buy foreign or American cars" "Do you have any car?"
