Negation.

Hi there!

What's the correct way to negate a sentance?

1) In a bid to not sound insane...

2) In a bit not to sound insane...

Is not supposed to precede to or does it come right after it?

Thanks in advance Emotion: smile

Either could work, but #2 is more probable. It depends on the rest of the sentence.

not precedes the to of an infinitive. There should never be any word between the to and the verb that comes after it -- unless it's absolutely unavoidable.
