Needless Repetition
I noticed that I keep using the word simply. In this first instance here, does it work OK if I remove it (I couldn't do it), and in the second can it be replaced by "just" (I just continued...)
"Now, it seems like a ridiculous thing to have done, especially as I had to play in front of Mr **** during my lessons, but during that first rehearsal, I simply couldn’t do it.
"I simply/just continued to spend hours practicing for my lessons"
