Dear all,

Could you explain the menaings of the phrases ib bold in the sentences. Thank you for your help.

1. I was so shook up because of the earthquake. Does it mean that i was terrified by the earthquake or my body was shaken by it.

2. My apartment has an electric water pump. If there is a powe outage, we can't get any water.

shook up = shaken up (probably more a mental state, but it could also be visible) The pump forces the water to the apartment, and the energy it requires is electricity.
