Are my sentences correct?
He was of a Russian, unlike many other locals with typical Mongolian features. Every winter, he would lock himself up in a little cabin lost in the woods and spend five, sometimes six cold months hunting. In the summer, he worked down in the valley, taking tourist groups on tours, showing them the beauty of sunset, colouring pink the tip of the Mt Belukha, Siberia’s highest peak.

One minor thing though, I wanted to say that the guy was Russian and therefore didn't have any Mongolian features, like the rest of the locals. Can I say this then:
"He was Russian, with no typical Mongolian features, unlike many other locals."

Am I the only one who thinks "lock himself up in a little cabin" is odd? My first thought was "What is he hunting if he's locked up in his cabin -- mice?"
