Need your help.( fuve simple sentence) Thnaks

Dearall,

Could you help me check the following five sentences? If you find something wrong with vocabulary and grammar, please correct them. Thank you for your help.

1. At the beginning of the story, Tom was not willing to help other poor people in the street

2. Dick’s wife could use which word to describe Tim when she said that you can only drink to a cold money-lover on Christmas Day.

When we talk about stories, we usually tend to use present simple.

1. At the beginning of the story, Tom doesn't will to help other poor people in the street.

2. Unclear and wordy. This is a run-on sentence. Explain yourself again in order to recast the sentence better.

When we talk about stories, we usually tend to use present simple. Says who?

Do you mean "when we TELL stories" we generally use the present simple? If yes, how do you explain "once upon a time"?
