Is this right for my correction in this sentence

1."Mr Tam, who has a lot teaching skill at junior level, will be joining our school in August"

I correct "Mr Tam, who has a teaching skill at junior level, will be joining our school in August"

2. "We met the women with vehicles that went to market"

I correct "We met the women with vehicles that went to the market"

I think in the sentence 2 "that" is a relative pronoun and it is used for both person and thing.For example, "I met a lot of people and their dogs that went to the market". Does article "the" always stand before "market" or not? Can you make it clear? Many thanks for you.
