Need you help. Thanks

Hello,

Could you help me check out the answers for the follwoing two questions? Thank you very much.

1. During the party, _____ chairs got broken.

(A) both (B) all of

The answer is (A). Can I say that "all of the chairs got broken. Does the sentence make sense?

2. The dishwasher is now ____.

(A) hungry (B) lonely (C) honest (D) empty.

The correct answer is (D), but I think that all of the answers could be right because there is no any context before or after the given sentence.

If the ansnwer is (D). The sentences means that the dishwasher feels empty because no one works with him/her. Is my explanation correct? However, the answer (B) signifies the same meaning. I am confused with the answer (B) and (D).

Thanks,
