AnonymousIn the US, the plural, "systems," is used in such situations.Yes, I am aware of this nuance actually. For example, "systems engineer"is used MUCH MORE often than "system engineer" in AE (AFAIK). On the other hand, wouldn't that "grate "on your ears if one plural noun immediatly followed another plural noun ("center for systemS applicationS")?
MUSCOVITEwouldn't that "grate "on your ears if one plural noun immediatly followed another plural noun ("center for systemS applicationS")?I almost suggested that change myself. "systems applications" breaks the usual rule that a modifying noun should be singular, but I'd call this a special case. It doesn't bother me because I've heard it used that way so
MUSCOVITE(1) Center for System Applications, Director(2) Director of the Center for System Applications(2) System Applications Center, Director(4) Boss
