Need to inflect the verb?

Hi. Please help. In Hebrews 13:8 in the New International Version of the Bible, it is written:

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Shouldn't we inflect the verb "is" when the adverb "yesterday" is involved? (I believe the word "yesterday" functions as an adverb in the above verse.)

This is a special case because it involves not only yesterday, but also today and forever. It involves a person who is outside of the constraints of time. " (John 8:58)
