Need the preposition "in" or "at" at the end?

Hi. Please help. Do we need to have the preposition "in" or "at" at the end of this question? This is supposed to be a question that elicits the following corresponding answer form.

answer form: He stayed in a luxurious hotel.

question form: What kind of hotel did he stay (in or at - Correct?)?
