Need some help with the book/film Perfume!

My question relates to the book/film Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. I have to write an essay about how the lack of love during childhood lead to his eventual demise. I haven't got much to talk about except for the following:

- he was dumped
- he had no father or mother
- he had no smell and thus no personality
- he did not receive love from anyone
- he was even disregarded by a priest
- used by everyone

Could anyone who has knowledge of the book possibly help me find more to write about?
