Need revision?

Ever since I started psychotherapy, knowing that there was not a single safe place to send me, my mom have kept me under her wings and studied up on psychology, pharmacopeia, and others by herself for years.

I would like to hear from natives how the sentence above looks in terms of its structure and grammar.

Also, I would very much appreciate it if you could comment specifically on the usage of "others" because I am not confident about how it might sound to natives. Is it OK as it is or do I have to use something more specific like "other subjects" or "other information"? But the thing is I don't want to be that specific since I don't think it's necessary.

Lastly, I am not sure if the position of "by herself" is where it could best possibly be

Thank you.

I'm from the US, you wouldn't use the word have you would say has. You could leave by herself out completely or you could say on her own for years. The word others is ok(understood) however some people might choose to be a little more specific.
