Need review of SOP

Have posted my SOP below. Could you please help in reviewing it.

I am XXXXXXXXXXXXX. I have completed my undergraduate degree in Information Technology, in May 2009 from Valliammai Engineering College, a prestigious academic institution under Anna University, Chennai, India. I wish to pursue a Master of Science in Information Security at Royal Holloway University of London. Studying abroad, for any period of time, is a highly rewarding experience. Learning new concepts in different dimensions and expanding area of expertise are value additions to one's profile. I believe in pursuing a course with clear future goals, and in the following paragraphs I will try to explain my clear vision for the future.

My interest in information security dates back to my school days, when I used to read about how to break passwords, so as to unlock my PC, kept locked by my dad, to prevent me from using the computer for a long time. What started as a playful thing, soon turned into passion.

To pursue a career in the field of information technology I joined informatics practices group in my high school. I stood school second and secured the highest mark in my class, in the informatics practices paper.

Naturally, and predictably, I pursued my bachelors in Information Technology at undergraduate level in Valliammai Engineering College. But my undergraduate course concentrated more on the programming side of the information technology field and less on security. Even though I had a knack for programming and was involved in development of application for use within the department, my interest was always in the field of information security. To make up for this I started taking part in online hacking competitions and also took part in various seminars and workshops related to information security.

During my college day's I was actively involved in organizing symposiums and seminars and used to head the technical team, responsible for the development of websites and applications. Also had the role of public relations officer for various college functions. I was also the secretary (2007-08) for the Computer Society of India, chapter in my college. These experiences in actuality simulated the real life conditions faced in the professional world and thereby has enriched my leadership qualities and organizational skills.

In a nutshell, I feel very privileged to be a part of such a wide array of activities outside of the academic domain. These have been a major influence to my overall development as an individual in my learning years. I consider discipline, handling group dynamics, and innovative thinking as the main positives from these activities. I feel that I have gained immensely from the opportunities presented to me and my experiences with them and I am much more confident to face the sterner professional tests in the future.

My final year project titled "An Intrusion Detection System to Counter Black Hole Attacks in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks" was on the development of a secure routing protocol for wireless ad-hoc networks to counter black hole attacks. I designed and simulated the protocol using NS2 and was able to reduce the data loss by 70% due to these attacks.

Having completed my undergrad by 2009 May, I joined Post-Graduate Diploma in Information Security, in Centre for Development of Advance Computing, a R&D institution under the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India, Pune, India. But I had to leave the course after two months due to personal reasons. I later joined as a Programmer Analyst Trainee in Cognizant Technology Solution, and have been working there ever since. My job profile involved the security testing of the web application and also development of tools for use within the project. During my work I found that the knowledge I had was not enough to grow up in the field of information security and also my interest lay in research.

In conclusion I believe that the Master of Science in Information Security at Royal Holloway, University of London will quench my thirst for knowledge in the information security field. In the future, I am seeking a career in research and I am confident that this course will help me identify an area of research and find work at PhD level. I trust that the masters program at your reputed institute would be step towards achieving my goal. I take this opportunity to thank you for allowing me to express myself and I look forward to securing admission into the master's program of your esteemed school.
