Need question and aswer correction

Hi teachers,

Woman: Yes, of course I do. But may I ask you something first?

Tom: After the examination, please. Just concentrate on my questions for the moment. First of all

why are you leaning English?

Is this what the question and answer should be according to the previos conversation?

What was Tom's first question to the woman?

He asked why was she learning English.

OR

It was why was she learning English.

If both are correct, could you tell me why please?

Thanks in advance

Hi! I think that " He asked why was she learning English" should be changed into "He asked her why she was learning English" I'm not sure about the other option.
