Need or needs?

Can you please explain me when I should say "need" and when "needs" ? Is it possible to use "needs" with plurars? for example:
My nose and my stomack needs ....
or
My nose and my stomack need....

I think that the first example is correct, but I can't understand why!

He needs a new car.

(p.s. stomach; explain to me)

Also, need can be used as a noun.

He has many wants and needs.
They are homeless. They have a greater need for help than other people.
