Need Help with my scholarship essays

Write an essay (in English) on how will you contribute to XXX’ intercultural environment. The essay must touch upon the issue of global citizenship, and describe how you aim to apply your specific cultural background to contribute to XXX’ intercultural environment.

I would like to discuss about how will I contribute to XXX’s intercultural environment with all my will and abilities.

Two months ago, I took part in a project that has changed my life completely. YYY was proudly introduced by ZZZ with their belief to make a positive change in our society by making impact on the youth through their academic learning courses. The project was conducted in January with the participation of high school students and students in university. After submitting my application and being interviewed, I was accepted by the organizing committee.

During that project, I got to know about myself better, my strength and my weakness as well. As a team leader, I supposed to be calm and supportive, however, I was not good at controlling my temperate and keen on working on my own ideas. I did not realize until it came to the reflection part and bonding time. Although I was really sad and disappointed, I knew exactly what my weakness was so I was eager for change to improve myself and to become a better person, a better team leader. I started to listen and empathize with other people by encouraging them to raise their voices, feelings and thoughts. At the end of the courses, I was so grateful that all my teammates did realize how hard I have tried.

Not is only overcoming my weakness, thanks to the excellent training for campers hosted by XXX, I also had a chance to enhance my core values such as leadership, critical-thinking and problem-solving skill. Due to these and with the understanding of the role of the young in tackling global challenges, I was confident enough to become the head of “Aerial wishes” project which aimed to raise the awareness of people on the Walking Street about air pollution. By-passers wrote their wishes to make a big tree full of hopes and dreams for a better world, a world without air pollution. The project has enabled me to widen my horizons and expand my knowledge of global issues due to my having access to much research and information. During the project, I challenged myself a lot such as its adaptability, finance, deadlines and human resources. After all, I realized that everyone should take responsibility for global issues and the key factor to deal with them is the exchange of information; and communication is what enables cooperation between nations.

In an era of globalization, ZZZ’s program - XXX, with the vision of peace & fulfillment of humankind potential, have helped me to become a global citizen and develop a broader understanding of cultural, socio-economic and business management issues. With commanders from all round the world, I experienced a diversity of cultures ranged from China to Australia. We spoke the same language and share the same interest about global issues such as poverty, gender equality and pollution. As a result, we were able to come up with the most suitable solutions and executions. Through such events, I understood the importance of international relations which is the reason why I have my burning desire to contribute all my latent quantities and effort to XXX’ intercultural environment in order to make it a global community that works for everyone, regardless of their ages, nationalities and religions.

In my opinion, there are several ways to build a global community and create connections between international students in XXX. With all the experience I have gained from mentioned activities, I have always yearned to organize an association in which all the overseas students can participate to work towards the ultimate goal of becoming a responsible and active member of the global village because I strongly believe that a community is able to develop further only due to every member’s notable contribution. The main value that the association is promised to bring to members will be an international environment with the global perspectives. Members will be encouraged to share their personal thoughts, different cultures, ways of living and so on. During each meeting, every representative will be invited to make a presentation about specific characteristics of his or her country while wearing their traditional clothes, which may enrich the others’ understanding of various nations. Besides, an occasional party for members in which they can cook their local specialties, make friends and share funny stories and some events that celebrate the diversity in world music and art, culture and spiritual traditions would be good ideas. It will also be the place for all the participants to discuss about global issues and their solutions with the aim of raising people’s awareness about the situation. However, it will take more than just simply caring and being aware of global issues but to take actions in order to tackle them effectively. Caring is just not enough, we need to understand and communicate with each other to solve the problems as a whole.

Apart from studying, I would love to join in a number of organizations at XXX such as A and B. I have strong ambition to devote all my effort and energy to the organization development so that all students can easily have access to them and positively take advantage of them. Moreover, I would be happy to enthusiastically support all of my peers and teachers with the best of my abilities without hesitating.

I am willing to learn new interesting things and create my own opportunities to form new bonds and relationships. As an Asian student, I am sure that I can bring a part of Vietnamese culture into the international community of XXX.
